While many think of community service as punishment, Mrs. Rossman’s Community Service class thinks of it as a fun way to make a positive difference.  Recently, they created gift bags for children staying in the Kona Community Hospital.  Each bag contained a class-made coloring book, clipboard, crayons, pencils, toys and a class-made yarn animal.  To fund the project, the class made lemonade and ran a lemonade/cookie stand.  They also delivered toys and books collected from the Interact Club’s toy drive for the hospital waiting rooms.  This year, they have weeded gardens around school, cleaned the Kealakehe Parkway, assisted with Interact Club projects and most recently painted the Kealakehe High School signs at the entrance to the school!
