Good Morning WaveRiders

Today is Friday January 27th, 2017. 

Are you interested in Driver’s Ed? If so, our next Lottery Night is going to be February 16th at 6:00 pm in the library. Application packets can be picked up in Q-203 or downloaded from our website. If you have any more questions, please contact Mrs. Aparicio or Mr. Verble.

Seniors! Your one and only opportunity to vote for your class song and Senior Ball theme is happening now. See the website for the ballot. Seniors must vote by today at 3:00PM.


Attention all baseball players! Please log-in to the "register my athlete" section of the KHSWAVERIDERS.ORG website and complete all requirements for participation. Repeat! All baseball players must register with a parent or guardian on "register my athlete". Mahalo and GO WAVERIDERS!!!


Attention all baseball fans! Please come out and support your Waverider baseball team this coming Saturday January 28th at home against Honokaa @ 1PM. Bring a chair, an umbrella, some fancy shades, a friend, some peanuts, and a good attitude. Come on down and cheer on your Kealakehe High School Waverider Baseball guys this 2017 season! Games will be fun and exciting! Mahalo for your support!!!
Attention tennis players: 
There will be a meeting about the upcoming season after school on Monday, January 30th at the tennis courts. Please get your forms and physicals done ASAP. If you have any questions, contact Fiona Miranda. 

Are you wondering what to do with your future? Are you on the fence about going to college? There will be a presentation about the Apprenticeship Program today during CEPA and 1st period in the cafeteria. 

There are many different programs, including electrical, plumbing, heavy machinery operator, carpentry, and more. Most apprenticeships pay around $19 an hour and after five years, you can earn $45 an hour. If you’re interested, come to the cafeteria today at the beginning of CEPA. See you there! 

Attention Seniors! There will be another UH Hilo Decision on the Spot next Wednesday, February 1st, during 2nd period. If you are interested, see Mrs. Davis for an application packet ASAP. Free or reduced lunch students can apply and get an instant decision for free! Other students will have to pay the $50 application fee. 

Also, many scholarships and the FAFSA have deadlines that are quickly approaching, so be sure you are getting these done ASAP. See Mrs. Davis if you need any help! 

Hey WaveRiders! Come to the Valentines Dance on Friday, February 10th from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, January 31st, till Thursday, February 2nd during Wiki and Lunch in Coach Case's room, E-103. Download your permission form from the school website or pick up a copy at the Library. 

Our Po'okela La'iOpua Health/Wellness Springfest will kickoff a fun run this weekend January 28 at 8am and will have entertainment, arts & crafts. Free health assessments including physicals for athletes go from 9am-3pm. 

Sign up for workshops and booth spaces with Dr. Ilagan. Bring your athletic gear for fitness clinics, water slide, climbing walls and Zumba participation. Open to the public, admission is free. Proceeds benefit scholarships to West Hawaii District Schools and La'iOpua Lapa'au Health Academy. 


Attention all students! This is your last chance to sign up for our 2017 summer tour of Ireland, Scotland and the UK. Take in famous cities such as Dublin, Glasgow and London. Want to join us? See Young in the SAC Office ASAP. Final payment isn't due to the tour company for a few months but you must get your name on the list.
