So a few months ago during advisory I watched a few my students (I won't mention who...LOL) scroll through Tik Tok for most of the period. I thought to myself, I don't think I could ever do that. Well guess what people! Covid-19 got me looking though videos on Tik Tok (crying sad face emoji). My kiddos love to do their own Tik Tok videos! So! You share yours (gotta have APPROPRIATE biology content - yes, some maybe a stretch so add some words)...then I will share mine! I can't wait!

1. Open "RNA: The Versatile Molecule" and watch the animation
2. Open "DNA RNA VEN DIAGRAM Chart" and fill out the similarities and differences in RNA and DNA. Have both windows open so you can reference the animation while completing.
* You have your own copy so just delete the blanks and fill in your answers.
* If you'd prefer you can print it out, fill it in, and upload a photo of your completed work.

Due to the current situation regarding COVID 19, we are rearranging our biology curriculum. We are starting evolution. As you know evolution can be a "touchy" subject to teach in the public school system. You have friends that are Christian. You have friends that are Catholic. You have friends that are Mormon. You do not treat your friends differently because of their religious beliefs. I ask that you treat "Science" like one of your friends. I am in NO WAY telling you this is how it is. Make sure you read through all of the content about cloning from the "Genetic Engineering" Slideshow on google classroom first. Then do some research on your own about why or why not cloning humans is good or bad. Then, go to the new flipgrid topic "cloning" and record your response video to the prompt. 😊

Aloha all! I often am asked the age old question from students "When am I ever going to need this in the future? or Why can't we learn something more interesting" Well this week you will be learning about what ever you want on your own!

1. Open both documents below. Project Idea List is just for you to reference, you can use any idea from the list or think of your own (with teacher approval via email). Have fun and get creative!!!

2. The Independent Learning Project template is for you to complete. Once you pick a topic to research or a concept to experiment, you will complete the project by filling out the template. (The red writing is an example/tips, you can delete that and replace it with your own content). YOU DO NOT NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN COPY, WE GAVE EACH OF YOU YOUR OWN. SO JUST FILL IT OUT AS YOU GO.

3. Add pictures, links, videos and feel free to reach out to Ms. Henriques or Ms. Sweeney with any questions or if you want feedback via khs waverider email. Electronic Binder... The Biology Website
 
In the past you have probably kept all your completed class work and homework in some type of binder.  With this class, you will create a website that stores all your projects assigned in this class.  Because our class uses technology a lot, we are going to post all important assignments and projects on your website.  Think about your website as a "poster".  Instead of using paper, we will use the wonders of the internet!  Start building your website at any time.  Title each page exactly as I did but DO NOT put the content that I have.  It may change from last year.  The rubric and due date will be posted soon!

LINK #2 - EASY! Use the NEW Google sites to create your biology website.  Will take you less than 10 minutes! 
LINK #3 and #4 - FANCY! If you like the "fancier" stuff then use either Wix or Weebly. Very cool stuff!

4. Read the entire left side pane containing the instructions. Fill out the handout and turn in for credit when done.
