Assignment

Purpose: Be able to process analyze data using standard deviation and standard error of the mean
1.) Practice worksheet: Standard deviation and standard error of the mean
2.) Gather data of plants--lab
3.) Presentation - summer assignment on ecology pictures/ Case study
4.) Feedback on quia quiz

For those who did not take the quia quiz, click below for the links:

HOMEWORK: Do the worksheet on "Practice with Normal Distribution and Standard Deviation".
Since this is just a lot of data, you may use excel program to calculate for your mean.
1.) Open an excel spreadsheet and input your data on the 1st column. Then calculate the average by simply clicking on =, type average, then type the range of cells that you have data.

=average (A1:A100)  ---> This command should give you the average
2.) On the second column, you can calculate the (Xi-Mean)2 by having this command. If your first data on A1 and your last data is on A100, then your mean appears on A101. Go to B1 and type this command:

= (A1-A101) * (A1-A101); then press enter
Then drag your cursor all the way to B100 and that should calculate everything.

To find the SUM on the B Column, click on B101 and use this command:
=Sum(B1:B100) then press enter

Once you have those, the rest is easy by following the formula of standard deviation. For any questions, just email me.
