Translation notes
- mRNA attaches itself to the ribosome on the RER.
- Translation begins when the ribosome reads the start codon (AUG) on the mRNA strand.
- tRNA brings the amino acid Methionine to the ribosome.
- tRNA anticodon, UAC forms a hydrogen bond with the codon.
- the ribosome reads the next codon. tRNA brings the corresponding amino acid and anticodon.
- The 2 amino acids forms a peptide bond.
- The first tRNA leaves the ribosome making its way to the cytoplasm find more of its amino acid.
- The process continues until the ribosome reads a stop codon bringing translation to an end.
- mRNA is released from the ribosome and the polypeptide is complete.
- All polypeptides produced from one mRNA will be processed and packaged by the golgi apparatus, sent through the cytoplasm, and out of the cell membrane by exocytosis.
