ATTENTION SENIORS**
All University of Hawai'i Community Colleges, including Hawaiʻi Community College, use the ACCUPLACER placement test to assess students' current skill levels in mathematics, reading, and writing. Your scores will determine the courses in which you are eligible to register. There is also testing for ESL students for ESL class placement.
 

YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE TEST (OR ALL PARTS OF THE TEST) IF...

  • you have valid (unexpired) COMPASS or ACCUPLACER placement test scores in your STAR account (scores expire after about two years).
  • you took reading, writing, or math classes from a UH system school and earned a "C" grade or higher.
  • you have transferable reading, writing or math credits from another institution.
  • you have a prior Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution in the United States.
  • you took the ACT or SAT college entrance exam and meet or exceed minimum scores for placement into a writing class. Call Hale Kea for more info.
  • you meet all eligibility requirements of the Algebra II End-of-Course Exam for placement into a math class. Call Hale Kea for more info.
 
Step-by-step Instruction 
1. Apply to the desired Hawaii campus at www.hawaii.edu/admissions 
2 Use your UH ID to take the ACCUPLACER Test ( Free for FIRST test taker, retakes are $25 **) 
3. Send your result to your campus you will be attending
