Description
Martin Luther King Jr. once articulated, "Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace.A soul generated by love."  It is my hope that this class will fulfill those words for each of my students.  The class will focus on what service means, what it looks like, and where it might be needed in Kona.  Ultimately, students will spend most of their time working on projects that seek to more fully understand their role in the community as well as how they can effectively serve those around them.  As Douglas Adams comments, "To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity."  We will work through what that means and what it may look like in this wonderful community that we are all so fortunate to be a part of.  This classroom is a place for change.  Change in the sense of making things better.  As Stephen Covey says, “We do make a difference—one way or another.  We are responsible for the impact of our lives.  Whatever we do with whatever we have, we leave behind a legacy for those who follow.”  Let us exalt one another and leave behind a legacy to remember.
